Expect the Unexpected – Trip Update

Hello friends and family! I just wanted to send an update on how we’re doing. My squad is the most amazing group of people that God has ever put together. There’s 24 of us including my two squad leaders Ellie and Janisse. We’ve had the most wonderful past week than I’ve ever experienced.

The things that I learned from all of our sessions and times together is…

expect the unexpected.

On the way to Gainesville, Georgia for training camp I got a text from one of my best high school friends mother that she had passed away. So many questions of why God would lead me here when I had a friend on life support back at home was flooding my mind. Thankfully I wasn’t alone. My team backed me up with prayer and instead of holding in that pain so it can fester, I shared my concern and the power of God helped comfort me.

Then, our flight got canceled for us to leave originally on the third. So we were in Gainesville now with no plan and no word of when we would get a plane next. At first it was frustrating, and the enemy was spreading lies in our pride was getting in the way. But the more time we spent together is a squad and in prayer and just rejoicing in the Lord the more it became clear that there was a plan for us in Georgia whether we saw it or not.

Since God ordained that we had stayed a little longer, some of the most amazing things have happened. We did prayer walks in downtown Gainesville, and prayed for people and just connected with the community and there was a lot of wonderful growth out of that. We finally got to go to a grocery store! Which sounds funny but it really is a blessing.

There was a woman who is living out of her car in the Walmart parking lot and I felt it on my heart that I needed to pray for her. Most of the car was covered up but there was a little sliver that I could see in. I talked to her and asked if I could pray for her, but with no response she just looked at me scared. I could feel how heavy her spirit was and so me and a few of my teammates prayed over her car. I began to burst into tears feeling an emotion I know wasn’t me. I wasn’t sad- I was tuning into what she was feeling. It’s something that happens a lot for me, where when I talk or look at people I can feel their emotional pain, I didn’t realize until now how that is a gift from the Holy Spirit and how powerful it can be for ministry.

Somehow God knew that we needed to stay here. We went to the most welcoming and beautiful bilingual church and spent not only Sunday morning with them but got to celebrate a birthday with them later that night. I played the hardest and longest 90 minute soccer game I’ve ever played. The presence of God was in that church and The Lord knew how much we needed their encouragement. And after a night with their amazing church we found out we have a flight for tomorrow, Tuesday.

God always brings the unexpected.

Thank you for taking the time to read my update!!

Lots of Love,
